It seems that Ford underestimated the amount of oil that remains in the system.

When I changed oil and filter the first time, I left the pan under the truck for 30-45 minutes while doing something else ... put the plug in and put 15 quarts in before pulling the dipstick. The level was above the plastic on the dipstick. I had to go back and drain a bit to get the oil level back just below the full mark. I guess that it could be possible that the oil jugs could have been each overfilled a slight bit and the accumulated amount could have put it over the fill mark. This last oil change was to the synthetic in a mostly purged system. I Kept checking the dipstick to get the oil level where I wanted it and knew that it took over 15 quarts to fill it. I will measure the amount drained at the next normal oil change.

FOR GET THE NUMBER OF QUARTS YOU ADD fill until the oil is on the LOWER one third of YOUR dipstick. Forget how much your drained.
THIS IS THE BEST FOR ALL

Then if you have c94’s check hourly for a bit more…. on the o-dipstick

Tim, so what you're saying is that you don't fill to the top of the dipstick. 1.5 quarts would bring the level from the lower third of the dipstick to the top. I'm just wondering why you recommend filling under capacity. Can you explain?

Yes.......the crank windage, and c94's,
I recomend filling to the bottom one third of the marked dip-stick.
Well within what is stamped on the dip-stick, by Ford.

Well..........sorta ......this has nothing to do with quarts, it has to do with reading the dip-stick.
