Stalls at stops in the morning

Any ideas on what to do to keep my 351M with a 2150 motorcraft carb from stalling at stops in the mornings? The choke is manual (electric choke is bad and no longer hooked up). There's no throttle control other than the accelerator pedal. Other than the stalling in the mornings it works OK. Afternoons are no problem and it seems to hold an idle in the mornings after the engine has been warmed up for 10 minutes or so. I've tried adjusting the mixture and idle speed and still a no-go. I have it up to 690-700 rpm idle now and still dies in the AM.

I'm having the same problem now. I just rebuilt my 2150 two nights ago and my 351M will stall in drive when coming to a stop.

Anyone have any suggestions for us, please help.

Thanks.

Is the heated air part of the air cleaner working? These trucks are bad about the carb internally icing up when cold and it makes them run too rich and not idle until the underhood temp warms when the themostat opens.

Yes, mine is. I replaced the air cleaner housing last fall.

I also failed to mention that my truck will stall now just about anytime I come to a stop. Not just when the engine is cold.

No, mine doesn't have any of that heat riser stuff in it anymore. That's a good thought though.

I was having the same problem with my 1978 F-100 300ci after witch seems ages I found my exhaust heat control valve temp spring was broken and the valve was staying closed, and the exhaust was not going out after the engine was warming up when the spring should have opened up the valve. My plugs were getting all carbon and would shake and idle rough. I would have to pull the plugs clean them, but it would last for a very little while until it would happen agan. Then I foun that broken temp spring. I was told I could just fix it so it would stay open. Worked great, but know I have to find a vaccun diagram to make shure I have my EGR Valve hooked up to the right vaccume port, and for my other vaccum lines. Any Help!!
