Borla headers on v-10/w a 5spd. I don't think I lost any low end power, but I do know the throttle response from idle on up is way better. At around 2,500 rpm the power increase seems to be the largest. I'd recommend the installation to anyone. I welded the manifolds together to make a boat anchor, that's all they're good for in my opinion. The collector pipe has got to be the stupidest design I've ever seen, too.

In my experience, you can't take anything a vendor states for truth without independent testing. He's trying to sell chips and superchargers. I don't recall KB making headers for the V10. If he did, he'd find a test scenario to promote headers. Any manufacturer would.

BTW, no, I don't have a V10 yet, but I'm dreaming of one someday

Question:

For those with a header and Y pipe setup (ex: banks). Does this setup remove the catalytic converters?

Borla Headers include only the headers and y-pipe.

The Borla catback system would be everything behind the cat... Borla muffler exhaust and polished tips.

Neither would replace the catalytic converter.

I would suspect Banks leaves the stock cat also.

I replaced mine with a hi flow cat in addition to the Borla headers and catback systems.

If ya read the Banks dyno chart it says working rpm range starts at 2800rpm.. Who knows what happens below that... A little debate is good. It makes the cold beer afterwards taste so much better..

I have to agree with Airtractrdrivr (sp?) on this one. I've read all the stuff on KenneBelles website. This goes for everyone: re-read his propaganda over again very carefully. It says something to the effect (I'm paraphrasing here)," bring any national motor journalist and every aftermarket header ever made to our dyno facility and I will prove they don't work". Is he for real? I could pull some BS stunt like that too. "Come to my house. Bring Mario Andretti, Richard Petty, Dick Trickle, Jeff Gordon. and Al Michaels to cover the event, and I'll prove I'm a better driver than they are."
In case you still are missing the point, the likelyhood of you getting KenneBell to test headers for you at his facility (with motor journalist in tow) and "prove" anything to you is pretty much... ZERO.
The only "truth" in his statements are that, often in engine building, something must be sacrificed in order for something else to be gained. economy for power, low end torque for high end hp, etc.
I was researching superchargers recently and based on his arrogant attitude I would go without before using any of his products. The guy is a tool. plain and simple. For blowers, I'll stick with Whipple, for exhaust, I'm going with Banks. ( and yes, I'm waiting on a full dyno test report on their system from idle to redline ) I'll keep everyone posted when it arrives.

good read here.
I'm a new V10 owner. just bought a parts van for everything but the motor, I'm a compression ignition junkie

I was just goign to sell the V10 from my van but the more I read about the 6.8 , the more I think I shoudl keep it for my toy van project.

I'm going to need to make some close measurements, but my 86 E150 shorty van is getting a complete driveline change other than the 9" rear. it had a battery fire and destroyed a lot including the doghouse area. I'm even toying with the idea of changing the dash to the 2001 E350 Chateau's dash.

I have been looking at headers and superchargers also because I want it to be a scary toy!

thanks for all your opinions guys,

Is your V-10 a 2V or 3V?

Oops forgot to take that into account.

From what I'm told the 3V has header like exhaust manifolds. Going to have a look at a 06 F-350 3V this week. Replacing my F-350 460 Dually. Don't want a Diesel.

I went with the banks headers after reading reviews and following a couple installs on here. They've made a nice improvement in both power and mpg. check these out.
