Surprised how easy the back end drops ?

I hooked my camper up to the truck to tow it about 3/4 mile to the house with no WD hitch on and man, it dropped about 8 inches or more. Much more than my prior 03 Expedtion. I would have thought it would have had a little beefier springs. Tounge weight on camper is about 480lbs

I have ordered some Timbren spring helpers, hopefully that will help.

I haven't towed with the WDH hitch on so not sure how much help it will be but will find out soon.

By the way, really like the truck so far !

Are those similar to the Add-a-Leafs kits by Trailmaster I think? An extra leaf spring, that gives you about 1000 more pounds of load?

I have put those on my last 2 Toyota trucks. I'm having the same problem with my F-150 when I hook up my trailer. I guess if I put them on my F-150, then I would have to get the daystar kit to lift the front up. Probably get me back to the original height on front and rear...hehe

I had about 600 lbs (quad) in the bed and could hardly notice any drop in the back. I am surprised that 480 lbs would drop 8".

I also put 10 bags of play sand in, about 40lbs each, also dropped the back way down.

Timbrens are a rubber bushing that replaces the bump stop on the frame, the do nothing to the ride unless you have a load on, where as a spring alteration changes your ride all the time.

I have never used Timbrens before but I know a few who use them and like them alot.

Also the placement of weight, the quad would be more distributed where as the hitch sets back and has a crowbar effect.

yeah Ct, our HD longbed's are rated at 2300lbs bed cap, whereas the screws and regular scabs are in the 1500-1800lb range depending on wheelbase/drivetrain.

the lariat's have much less weight carrying ability than the Fx4. hieght is the same, but the springs are weaker in the lariat.

I started to get the FX4, kinda wish I had now, but I won't mention that the the wife, she would probably have my clothes loaded in the truck along with my pillow. I hope the Timbrens will resolve the problem.

I thought the same thing. I did not date mention it to the wife. The lariat drives much nicer, but you can definitely notice the difference in simple things like speed bumps. My old man bought the fx4 and his suspension is much stiffer.

Your wife is awfully nice to at least give you the pillow. Mine would have said, "As much as thing cost, it should have came with a leather covered pillow".

I thought the suspension was the same except for firmer shocks on the fx....
