7k+ i usually hold around 8,500 J/K...... what do you mean though? on the freeway in 5th?

i rev mine out almost every time but on the freeway while im in 5th gear i hold around 3-3500 all my cars usually run around there so i dont think im killing it...... i know i have good oil so that oil vescosity shouldnt be a problem

The 90 I had with a 2.3 when I turned 16, so 7 years ago, redlined at 5500, so I usually shifted at close to 6K, no rev limiter. If you plan to keep it for any length of time, keep it under 5500 RPM's and you'll be fine, it is a motor that likes to wind up a little bit, and in a 2wd truck, ain't too bad.

The safest I feel taking it up to is 6k on my 2.5L. But there really isn't a point. The power band starts at about 3500 and ends at around 5200. My mods have raised where my powerband is though, it may be different for you.
