What do you guys do when you can't sleep?

I've been having a lot of sleeping problems the last month or so. Tried sleeping pills but they leave me groggy and wiped out all the next day. Wondering what you guys do about sleeping problems...

And yea, its no coincidence I posted this at 2:30 a.m.

Benadryl and a beer or two
or
Midrin and a beer or two

Works every time. Benadryl doesn't require a prescription, so that's probably a better plan.

Yea, the beer and benadryl make for a nice synergistic effect...works good. But I'm groggy all the next day. Maybe its just me. I thought Midrin was for pms cramps!? Guess not, lol.

Its cool if you get pms cramps man, I won't tell

Migraines suck...I'm just glad I don't get those. Think I'll turn in and stare at the ceiling for awhile. G'night. Maybe.

Usually post here. Sometimes I am up all night, straight through the next day. If you read one of my posts, and it makes absolutely no sense, just remember it made sense at 3 or 4 in the morning.

Dont laugh...exhausted, but cant sleep...get ya a little bottle of lavander oil. Just a drop or two on your pillow. Seems lavander is one of the smells that'll relax almost all guys. When I was in school, and couldnt sleep...it worked. Its funny how desperation allows you to try most anything. That was just one more hippie I had to aplolgize too, and thank. Today.......the little pink pill works for me.

Stay away from those sleeping pills that contain acetaminophen, like Tylenol. Stuff isnt good for your liver.....even worse when its a routine.

Proeliator, if you are having constant problems with this, you really should see a doctor. It could be a sign of something simple, which will be nice and an easy fix, or something serious that you can prevent.

If I don't read, I can't go to sleep. My current book is really great! It covers the history of the Physics of time and all the exciting theorys, in depth. My wife says sometimes it just takes me a paragraph, I pass out and the book hits her in the head.

If it's stress related, because something is different in your life recently, you will have to work that out. If it's dietary, you might examine what you eat from late afternoon on into the evening. Stay away from caffeine products, coffee, tea, colas, etc. I would avoid treating it with "medicines" as you could become dependant on the medicines.

Self-medication can lead to problems that will compound or possibly even mask the real issues.

jskufan is correct "I would avoid treating it with "medicines" as you could become dependant on the medicines"

This will probably sound like a 'girl' thing, but I have been known to go have a hot bath in the middle of the night when I cant sleep. If you happen to have a book to read, take it with you. The hot water relaxes your muscles, the book helps to take your mind off of whatever you may be stressing over (even if you don't think you are). It usually does the trick for me. If i'm feeling under the weather, tylenol p.m. works wonders if I take one an hour or so before I plan to hit the sack.
Good Luck
