150ford is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.150ford is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Just a note on horsepower and torque. Ford is planning on a power upgrade on the 6.0 to be ahead of the competition again. We havent seen nothing even close to what the 6.0 can produce. With all the mods available for that engine. And fords power update. The 6.0 will put the other diesels to shame

Well I want one, So I hope they get straightened out. But Based on current Problems, I sure as Heck aint gonna rush out and buy a "new updated" 6.0 with 610 ft lbs and start this process all over again.

I agree with you totally. Youve had enough already. This power war is getting to be rediculous. It would be nice for ford to leave the power the way it is but with the other manufacturers upping theres they cant do that. The powerstroke has been fords bread and butter since 1994 they cant afford to lose that market Theyve been the market leader since

i still say an engine with less moving parts that out torques the competition at lower RPM's that gets better mileage would be the one i would go for, but i will probably be labled a troll for preferring a cummins over a powerstroke now wont i?

No you won't, because you're not brand bashing. You're sharing an opinion based on actual facts. I think there is more to it than the facts you base your opinion on, but my opinion is also based on facts!

A car that is by nature meant to move and move fast. I admire the Powerstrokes for being able to do that. Just untapped potential.
that truck has a cummins motor in it. still a cool video though.

the 6.0's best torque range produces 560 ft lbs at 2000 rpms and drops off to 500 ft lbs. at 3300 rpms..... the cummins 600 produces 600 ft.lbs. at 1600 rpms and drops off to 560 ft. lbs. at 3100 rpms....so if i add this up ford maintains its best torque through 1300 rpms....while the 600 maintains it through 1500 rpms.... so where does ford have a longer torque range...

If that's true, then Dodge completely reshaped the torque curve when they upped the torque, not only added torque. I would still take the 6.0 based on the Torqshift alone. Dodge would be foolish not to develop a 5-speed auto to go with the Cummins considering that both Ford and GM have done so. I still think the Cummins would come in last in a competition based on their 4-speed auto. 5-speed, with the torque curve you describe, I'm sure they'd win right now (at least until the 2005s!).

It's going to be too much when Ford or any other popular diesel pickup manufacturer produces a Lightning version of a diesel truck just because people find fast trucks to be so popular and find that diesels can be tuned to do what any gas powered truck can and do it better.

It isn't about speed, it's about towing capacity. Torque is always a factor in a truck's towing capacity, along with a lot of other things, but if you have the most power to start from, then everything else is just fine-tuning the truck.
