no power to electric shift motor at harness

no power to electric shift motor at harness

hi,

it has been great getting help, checking lots, switch good(tested ohms),cleaned motor , (direct to moter , turns back-forward) looked for relays (are they in a small black box under the dash on e-brake side, 3 all the same ? ) checked fuse in side door #27 ,also interior lights.....

ckecked 20 amp 4wd fuse ok, removed fuse and ckecked for power......ahhhh.......nothing.....running.....swi tched to 4w hi....brake pressed........


I could only think there is no power at the harness, for the is no power at the fuse under the hood....

20 amp fuse feed

My 98 book shows that 4 wheel drive 20A fuse is feed by the buss and exits the fuse as a Darkgreen/lightgreen wire. The buss feeds a lot of other things so I would think it has power. It may be different on your truck??? anyone have a 95 book?

yes dave, same power feed , i now have a diagram, lots of wires, 4 sources of power , shift contol module has power every where except that , yellow and orange that come from the moter, the other wires go to the computer and starter relay,relay tested ok, my diagram is most likel the same as your 98,,,,i can and have got to all the parts , if you have any ideas, some say to ground the grey at the cw relay and the red /pink grounded on the ccw relay ,meaning one is clockwise and the other means counter clockwise and that by-passes the computer and the moter should turn
parts - computer (gem)--elec shift relay-batery saver relay-and shift control module-- that has the cw and the ccw relay in it.

My 98 book shows the shift control relay module has a Gray and BR/PK wires going the GEM. It puts a ground on one those two to close the relay for cw or ccw. So I would think you need to check for a ground on one of those when engaged. There shoud be 12 volts on the DK/LG wire and LG/O wire feeding the relays.

The shift relay should have 12 volts on the DG/LG and the LG/O wires.

When engaged the BR wire feeding the Clutch will have 12volts on it. And the Y will have a ground on it. When it is not engaged the Y will be open

Hope the wire color codes are the same.

thanks for your help, ordered new gem module, had power as you said, same colours too.... should have new module shortly,,,,,i will send another posting...when i give this thing another go...... hopefully monday morning...waiting for mail...
