bed wood
#2
I'm not sure where on this forum this thread is located - but I copied the info. below from a long thread that dealt with finishing bed wood - I have a 51 and probably wouldn't have saved it if it weren't for my truck. I did a quick tour with a tape measure on my 51 and it looks correct. If you want to look further do a search on finishing bed wood - terrific information there as well as dimensions. Hope this helps!

bed wood
"Hi Jim, I measured the bed wood early this morning. It is 7/8" thick, 5-5/8" wide and 78-1/8" long. One end is cut across square while the other has a milled section on top that is 1-1/8" wide and approx. 1/8" deep. Six of the eight boards have grooves running their intire length. The grooves are to accomodate the edges of the steel rails. The grooves are 1/8" wide and the inside edge is 1/2" from the outside edge of the board. The remaining 3/8" is milled down about 1/16". The other two boards are for the outside positions where they connect with the bedsides. These boards have the same groove on the inside edge as trhe other boards, but on the outside they just have 1/16" milled portion that is 1-1/8" wide and runs the entire length of board. Sorry to make this so long. Good luck, John"
