I just finished chasing these two codes on my '02. Turns out ,it was the DPFE sensor. This sensor reads how much EGR flow is going into the engine. I replaced the EGR valve (54.00), no good, then tested everything according to the Haynes manual, even cleaned out the pipe that route's the exhaust back to the intake. In the end , it was the DPFE (34.00). Seems I alway's replace the cheapest part last.
Travelman, where did you get the DPFE from? I have the EXACT same problem and did the EXACT same thing you did first...replaced the EGR Valve. I called a few auto parts stores and they don't carry them...well one did, but it was $80, not the $34 you mentioned. Did you get your's from the local dealership?
Nevermind. Went to the dealer. The part was $36 Replaced it...codes are gone and truck is running a WHOLE lot better. It was chugging and jumping all over the place and now its just like it was when I got the truck. Thanks for posting the information.
Sorry about not getting back to you, I'm a little inconsistent in my forum viewing.
I'm glad to hear you got it fixed, my dealership originally wanted much more for it, but I usually complain a little and he cuts me a break. It's sad you have to gripe just to get a fair shake.
