trust me it is bad news...mine has been blown for a few weeks and you might as welll replace it with the zf if you can...in this area the mazda is next to impossable to find in a yard and if you do they want $500 and up..about the same quote ive had to have it rebuilt....my truck has alot of blow by so im not puting that kind of money in for a tranny..

Not really, the M5OD is not a bad light duty tranny, if you use it for that, and that alone you should be fine, I've heard of 250K plus on them. The ZF is just better in my mind because it's stronger, and it has a lower first gear. When my M5OD blows up, I plan on a T-18 that I can get for free in.
