Cool Seat Belt Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding

OK - Who knows how to turn off the damn dinging when your seat belt is not engaged? Talk about annoying!

Thanks!

I just did it to mine. It's in your owners manual under "Seat Belt Minder". I would give you the page number, but my truck is in the parking garage downstairs at the moment. There is also a thread on this subject if you wanted to search.

Good luck. It sure is nice not to hear that thing any longer.

I thought it was kinda funny actually. My sister-in-law was in the passenger seat and it knew she was there because of the sensors in the seat. She forgot to put her belt on and ding ding ding ding...lol My truck is too smart for her

I followed the owner's manual procedure for disabling the belt minder, and the light in the dash flashed, then stayed on for a few seconds just like they said it would when I was done, but the bell still goes off if I try to start the truck without my seat belt on. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

That reminds me...you must do each seat separately. I may do the passenger seat at a later time. Just did the drivers for now.

Now if we could only get that "Key in ignition" reminder to shut off

Oh sorry for the confusion. The procedure that you just did only shuts off the annoying sound that comes on if you are driving with your seatbelt off. It comes on every few minutes, and not when starting the truck.

Personally I can handle that sound when starting the vehicle. I just don't like that Minder when I'm just backing down the drive to go down my own street.

Oh! I never gave it enough time to go off again. Just put my belt on. Actually, I always wear my belt but usually put it on after I've started the truck. I was hoping I would be disabling it completely. Thanks for the explanation!

I am guilty of not wearing one in our neighborhood, but I always have it on when I get out on the main road. I really should wear it around the hood, due to all the deer running around.

I was once on the Rescue Team in a Volunteer Fire Department, and am a firm believer in belts. Pulled too many victims out of windshields and other places due to not wearing them.

In Virginia you can be pulled over if the police see that you are not wearing a belt. It used to be that you'd have to be pulled over for some other infraction, then they could hit you with not wearing your belt too, but they changed the law. So, I wear it even around the neighborhood.

I'm gonna kill the bell. Mine will still keep ding'n at me even after I park my truck after driving across a parking lot.

Talking

You know, I never wore my seat belt till I got this truck. I won't disable the reminder because it makes me put on the seat belt which is a good idea all the way around!

If you want to stop the ding, go to your Ford dealer and ask for an extension. It is free. Plug it into the floor mounted part of the seat belt. It will not ding, even at startup.

Is not the purpose of the ding ding to remind us to wear the seat belt, in order to keep us safer. I work for ExxonMobil and they will fire you for disabling a safety device, no questions asked. Just wear the belt and the ding goes away.
