Used Camper Question

Used Camper Question
I'm thinking of buying some sort of used camper once I sell my '79, now that I have a real nice '93. I have no idea of the pricing of used campers, so could someone give me an idea of what model years I could look at to get a good usable tow-along in the $1500-$1700 range? I am considering a pop-up or smaller self-contained, to sleep 4 (family camping). I'd like something that I could go right out in without having to do a complete rehab, and obviously for my price range I'll have to get something older, but how old? Any brands to stay away from, things to look out for when inspecting one, etc? Any and all feedback appreciated.
(p.s., I do know the joys of backpacking- I do that with my buddies quite a lot , but I also want to go with the family, and a camper is the only way that is going to happen ).

be sure to check the flooring and roof closely, for any signs of water damage.as far as pricing goes ...well there are so many things to determine "value". options are a biggie, brand, ect..ect.. one thing be sure to get is air conditioning, makes a world of differance in comfort. even small campers have them.
