I had new tires put on my 03' super duty. I have the factory lariet polished aluminum wheels. When the old wheel weights were taken off, they left deep scratches in the aluminum itself and the clearcoat, obviously is severly damaged where the weights were. I tried to buff out the blackness of the damage to no avail. At this point I just want to seal the damage so the surrounding clearcoat does not begin to peel. What is the clearcoat made of? Is it a enamel clearcoat or something different? What should I do? Is there a touch-up clearcoat that is brushed on or do I need to spray something on?

Most auto parts store have little brush on clear coating in the same rack as the color touch-up. You might be able to wet sand the spots and then brush touch the clear. I think most of the factory wheels are using acrylic clearcoat.
