thermastat questions

thermastat questions

will a 180F thermastat hurt a 3.0L? i heard never to put a colder one in her. so what do you think?

I would stay with the OEM 195 degree Thermostat. An engine runs more efficiently the hotter it is.

Well... my experience with a 180* thermostat is that it eliminated my pinging by letting the engine run a bit cooler (and less prone to detonation). Didn't make much of a mileage difference on my van either. I would only do it if you have trouble with the engine getting too hot, or if you have pinging.
