1959 F-600

I have a 1959 F-600. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what motor it has in it. Vin # F60C9K55383. Are there any websites that cover these trucks. I have tried different searches and came up empty handed. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to FTE! That's a big truck daddyo...there's a '59 F600 out here by me. It's an old grain truck and looks good too.

As far as websites, I think 4Speed has some info on the big rigs. Otherwise, you've come to the right place for info. These trucks are pretty much like the F100s, just a bigger frame. Most restoration supplies fit F100 - F750s I think. Cabs are the same.

You VIN # F60C9K55383.breaks down like this:

F60 = F600
C = engine type 292 Y-block
9 = year 1959
K = assy plant Kansas City
55383 = Consecutive unit number

If you get the other info on the data plate, we can tell you the rest of the story. The '59 that I know of here's VIN is F60C9K39213. Both were built at the Kansas City plant. That's interesting.

If I might ask, where did you get this info? Other info is as follows:

154 R F600 28H F
17000 158 4000

Thanks again for the help.

154 R F600 28H F
17000 158 4000

154 = Wheelbase
R = color Vermillion Red
F600 = Model
28H = Date of Production ???*
F = Transmission 4 speed Manual
17000 = Max. Gross Vehicle Weight Lbs.
158 = Cert. Net Horsepower @
4000 = RPM.

If I had to guess the date of production, I'd say the "H" is the month - July, 28th day, in 1958. MY prob is, my date codes start at "J" for September. My chart doesn't show A thru I, so I can't pinpoint your date. Can anyone else figure it out?
This is my prob, too, as the date code for my truck is "04C".

Anyway, I have a catalog from John's F-Fun Hundreds that give a breakdown on the data plates for '57 -'66 F100s.

And no prob, that's what we're here for! Get your gallery up, we need to see your heavy hauler!

It left the factory with a 292 and 2bbl. This is probably the premiere site for Ford trucks, several members have F600's and even bigger.

thanks for the help on the engine i.d. Now if only someone had a wiring diagram they could show me. Preferably the coil to ignition or vice versa. I'm not getting any fire to the coil.
P.S. it has a fertilizer spreader bed on the back.
