Arrow Uh I forgot to mention this..:!

Just look at what I have, a 1992 Bronco with the I-6 300, 1bbl carb and makes about 8MPG city!, and that is with no 4WD installed and running stock 235-75R15 tires, C-6 tranny. So you should consider yourself lucky!. What about the big block guys?, I want to hear from the 351ms, 400s, 460s, what figures can they contribute? maybe our friend Scroob, foremost advocate for the 400cid!

I have a 94, 5.8L, E4OD, auto hubs, 31 10.5, all stock with about 100K on it. I've been gettin 14.5mpg for the last few years in CA. I used to get a bit over 15 but I don't drive it as much anymore so it sits around a lot. When I drive out of state (ID, MT, etc.) I get 16-18, so the gas here in the Bay Area has something to do with it.

well my 89 302 has been gettin 10, i have not checked the speedo, but the miles arent far off. i am gonna rebuild the fact 5.8, and hope it gets better. 10mpg is stupid. I had a 454 72 K10 blazer that got that. I know I can do it with a 460, so a 302 running under no extra load, 55 avaerage 20 miles to work, should do better than that. i illed a mid 80 linciln for a guy, who checks every tank, he asked me to note the miles, i saw how he was tracking every fill, and when ifiugure it he was geeting over 20. In a 4 dr car, he drives no diffeant hen I have been. I got 2 broncos, and the other i dont track, cause its a play pretty. I do it when i can afford to, so i dont care, but the efi, even with c6 shoufl get better then 10, It's not that hard. Ill let you know if i figure it out.

I know a lot of people dont take gear/tire changes into account, and even 1 mph off can reallt effect mpg. 5 mph and you drive 10 hours a week, that 50 miles roughly. Thats adds up, i am gonna check the speedo monday against a new car, 31 even are bigger than stock rubber, si will effect mpg

In MI,

87- 2.15
89- 2.25
91- 2.35
93/94 - 2.40+

About 65 to fill up. Im going to be advanceing my timing a little bit in a week or so, so ill be using 91 prob... so lets say about 70 bucks to fill up.

Ohh and I get about 12-13mpg if im easy on the pedal.

Come to Canada, its costing me $130.00 a week to fill that big *** tank on my 96 bronco!! I think it might be cheaper to make a small car payment! Oh but I love my Bronco!

Thumbs up Yeah, it's me again, check this out...

Guys, you should consider yourselves lucky! Gas prices here in Colombia right now are about the same as in the U.S.; couple bucks a gallon. The difference is that income per capita here is around $2.500/year as compared to $25.000+/year in the U.S.! That's one reason people here try to stay away from V-8s (except for the wealthy). Whenever they hear "Bronco" all they can say is: Gas guzzler!. I know, they are narrow-minded... I only make like $600/month working for the government, but I still want to keep my Bronco, and in fact I wouldn't mind putting in a 400 or 460!

Bronco Rules!

do an internet search on platnium plugs vs copper. You should decide as i did that they are worthless. Plat plugs were designed for auto makers wanting to advertise 100,000 miles without a tune up(remember those adds). Since plat is very hard, it does not wear away, but it also does not conduct like copper. But copper wears with each fire, the spark actually blows a tiny spec of it away. Racing plugs use thin electrodes for the best fire, but they also dont run them for long before they throw them away.

I used to lose 5mpg in my ranger. I tracked it very close, it would be about 100 miles per tank. Mine was from the extra warming time. All those days when Id start it while i got something ready for work, and when id slip out of work a few minutes before quitin time to fire it up.

Really your o2 sensors? Were they bad? Was your truck acting up? Or is this some thing one should do like changing plugs?

Thanks for the info.

From what I have read, I would change them every 10-15K. Im going to put a new exhaust system on my truck and im going to get a good O2... maybe even a wideband so I can see my A/F... man that would be sweet! But either way, ill keep you posted.
