Western Truck Plow

I was plow shopping the other day and I was asked if my truck was a 2004 from before Dec. 31st or after. I know Ford made some small chaanges in the hood blanket and glove box light but I didn't know about anything that would effect a plow mount. Does anyone know anything about this?

Ford changed the location and number of bolts in the blocker beam. Western plows use these holes for lift frame attachment.
Both lift frames are available now

Steve,

First, thanks for the help. When you say the blocker beam do you mean the crash bar behind the fascia? I know in pre-Dec 31 trucks it mounts with three bolts on each side mounted to a plate. Did they change that set up or did they add new bolts? I'm asking because I made a front hitch out of my bar on my Oct. 03 -2004 truck and I have a new 2004 truck on order and I want to know if my fancy hitch will fit that truck too.

Also, is there a way you can give me a quote for a new truck plow for my truck through my email (post Dec 31 truck). You and are aren't that far apart, I live near Poughkeepsie.

Ford change the number and the locations of the bolts in the blocker beam. I believe there are 4 bolts each side now. The blocker beam is behind the front spoiler. You have to remove it to install A Western plow. I do not think your front hitch will work, but you will be able to build a hitch off the plow lift mount.

If the truck has the plow prep package, there should be no issues with warranty.

The plow prep doesn't mean anything plus don't have a plow prep on a F-350 they will void your warrenty if u have anything bigger then a regular cab with a diesel,,,,,,,

Installing A plow on your F350, any cab, will NOT void your warranty. The install of aftermarket parts does not void warranties. The part failure must be linked to, and caused by the modification in order to void warranty on that part. There is A very good article, on this subject, on Gale Banks web site. No plow manufacturer will make A plow for A vehicle that the manufacturer has not OKed.
uponyou21- If your dealer has told you your warranty is void for A plow find another dealer.

IF you don't have the snow plow prep package, hanging a plow on your truck will make the warranty null and void. I have '01 F250 SD 4x4 5.4L reg cab w/ plow prep package. I am currently thinking about installing a plow myself and have done tons of research on the subject. Ford won't offer the plow prep package on 350's w/ the diesel and crew cab because it will overload the front axle. Well, I've rambled on enough,so.....

You can get the diesel and plow prep., but only on the reg. cab, and yes the only thing having the plow would void is what ever failed because the plow caused it, you would have to bend the frame or something crazy for that to happen, if the tranny or something goes, how can they say it was from the plow??? The ford dealers I have been to could not care less, they make money off of your service, they don't want to turn you away, that's the same as turning money away, they make there living from you, now if they can get you to pay out of your pocket thats really good for them and they make good money off of that, but if ford has to pay for it then they don't make as much, but there still making money and turning numbers, so chanches are they are going to help you, plus they don't want to go to court to prove how your plow (anything) caused the problem, which it probally didn't.

I just recently purchased a new F250 crewcab with the 5.4 and automatic. I installed my own Snoway plow blade and have not voided the warranty according to the dealer. My dealer even quoted me a price on the Ford extended warranty to 100,000 miles or 7 years with the plow installed. The president of Snoway told me that any plow built for a specific truck can not void the factory warranty. The plow makers work well within the weight and legal limits for the trucks. I would shop for a better dealer

I have a 350 with the plow package. I got it mostly because it helps level the front.
