Question VanTRUCK

What was that mid 80s Van/Truck Monstrosity called?
I remember seeing it around when I was a kid all over the place, now adays I havent seen any. In fact I havent seen one evenn in a scrapyard in 12 Years! Maybe thats a good thing.
Does any one here own one still and have a picture of it?
What were they set up with?
Just curious about this Van version of an EDSEL.
Actually I wouldnt mind owning either of them just to be different.

if you're talking about the half-van body on a dually chassis with a pickup or flat bed, i think some of them were called 'Centurion' conversions.

i saw a similar thing go on ebay last week:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWA%3AIT

Imagine taking something like that, removing the bed and welding on the back half of another van to make something like this:

whoohoo!

Similar to it but I actually remember seeing them lined up at the local Ford dealership back home when they came out.

It's called a 350 Cabriolet.

It started out as a cab and chassis. I dont remember the company that did the conversion.

I'm bringing this thread back in hopes that any other Cabriolet owners will join in.
I just got mine, it's an 82, 460/C6 combo.

I am looking for any and all info on these. The internet has very little on them and I'd like to other owners. Right now, I need some body work, including some fiberglass work on the floor and bed. I'm thinking about building a metal bed inside of the existing bed since the sides have gotten brittle and weak.
What all have you all done with yours? Do you have links to any pics? I am loving this truck!

I've been looking for one of the Centurion version that was clipped behind the factory double fold out doors for years. I know some were made had a friend that had one. Want to put a wheelchair lift into it.
If anyone runs up on one let me know. A PM would be greatly appreciated.

I'm building one using a dead 88 E-150. I'm needing to know the wheel base so I can lengthen an E-350 frame. Check the thread "Truck Box on a Econoline" No pics yet I need a new camera.

Putting a pickup bed on it? Wny not just mod the rear doors, move them up and make them the rear of the cab(using part of the rear of the van's roof) and put come box rails on, sheet the inside in place of the plastic etc. I have a '94 E-350 that will get this treatment soon. It will come after the '91 Voyager becomes a minitruck...

Too much rust in the body. It is a Style Craft conversion van with the big windows

Centurion did makes these conversions, but not the one above your post that you are referencing. The company that made those conversions was called Cabriolet. They are easy to distinguish, Cabriolet at the big conversion-van style bodies, the Centurion bodies maintained the width and height of the original van it was based off of. So, the Cabriolet beds were wider than the Centurions.
