Wait for the 2005 model?

I am considering buying a 2004 F350 Diesel. Should I wait for the 2005 model, as there seems to be some complaints regarding the new 6.0 engine, or have the problems been corrected when discovered by Ford.
Thanks.

Most of the problems seem to have been solved. There are some as there always will be, but they are far and few between. As far as getting the 05. You will have to decide if you like the looks of them better. There is also rumored to be a power increase which may cause more problems related to the 6.0. But I fell that is unlikely. Ford took a good hit with the current trouble, so I imagine any changes have and will be tested thourougly. o you will have to decide which one looks better. That is when the 05's are released in the final version.

Don't just wait for an '05 model, but rather an '05 motor in an '05 truck.

If you buy an early '05 with an '04 motor you have gained nothing based upon your decision to wait for an '05.

Before you buy, look at build date of motor and of truck (two different dates)

Good luck.

Wait. My 04/04 is back in the shop for the third try at fixing my recurring stalling problem. My truck is comfortable, handles well, has gobs of power, looks good, but refuses to stay running. I'm really disappointed.

I agree with Tim, very good reminder, for how easy we forget such an important point.

May I add some humor -- knowing full well of your discomfort..

With all of the good points you mentioned, you wanted the truck from Ford.....to also run ??

Luke,
I can handle it. I get it each day at work. The guys (and gals too) really get off on the Focus loaner. Sorry about the empty post above. I spazzed on the keyboard. Here's hoping the Ford techs will have some good news for me tomorrow.

Actually, would you believe, I had a loaner for three weeks while they were working on by car's transmission--and it also was Focus. Now that is HUMOR

Hope your news this day is good....

When we took our diesel in for a radiator hose problem, we managed to hit a deer doing 55 and the only damage was a split radiator hose. They told us it owuld be a couple of days. Well we told them we will need a truck EQUIVLENT to what we are bringing in, or atleast close. We haul 1-ton round bales for our horses, about 3 bales a week. Plus if we ever have a problem and need to get it to the vet, we need a truck. So what did they give us, a ranger, i would like to see a ranger do that. Plus it was gutless compared to the 7.3. better than a focus i geuss, whats the towing capacity again on the focus? LOL.

I carry my bicycle in the back of my Excursion.

This way if the ole 6.0L goes, I can bicycle into town (ya right).

I figure my max trailer weight on the ole Schwinn is 50lbs!!!

I'll take a Focus anyday... be glad it's not an old Fairlane on the used lot!!!

Good luck,

2005

I am also waiting to order a 2005 and would like to have a 2005 engine in a 2005 truck. Does anyone know when ford will stop using the 2004 engines and sart using the 2005. My original plan was to order as soon as the dealer would take orders but now thanks to this forum I will wait for a 2005 engine and truck
