85 F-250 rims on 70 F-250?

i have a set of aluminum rims(8 lug) that are on an 85 f-250HD. Will these rims be the same pattern as my 1970 f-250(8 lug also). I know that the lug nuts are not the same, the 85 lugs are too big for the 70 studs.

yea they will swap, they both have the 8x6.5 bolt pattern. the 85 has 9/16 studs, the 70 should have 1/2 inch

will i have to get different lugs to use these rims on my 70? They almost look to small in outside diameter when compared to the holes in the rim.

As long as you're using a conical lug nut (on a rim designed for conical nuts) they should seat and center the rim even if the holes are a *little* big. If the wheels are for shank-style (mag wheel) lug nuts, you need to make sure the shank size is right for the wheel.

How do you tell the difference between shank style and conical lugs? The aluminum rims have lugs that are about as long as the studs and are open on one end and tapered to center the wheel and closed on the other. The lugs on my 70 have tapered ends to center the wheel also but are open on both ends(looks like a nut).
