89 trans zf 5 change to 6 spd

anyone done a zf 5 spd change over to a six spd ?? 89 7.3 .i have a low geared tow truck and it whines up way to hard at freeway speeds

The 6 speed will not get you much extra.
The final drive ratio in the 5 speed is .76
The final drive ratio in the 6 speed is .72

With 32 inch tires that works out to about 5 MPH at 3000 RPM

89 superdutys are strong trucks.4 wheel disc brakes work well .
