Swapping an FE into a 80-86 F-Series...

I know that the FE's never came in this bodystyle of pickup but was wondering if anyone has ever done this swap and what all it entailed.

It can't too hard a 460 is a fe block and its found in 80s model ford trucks.Take a 390 equipped ford truck, park it next to the 80s ford and start switching parts till it fits.Might take a few cases of bud to get it rollin.

One thing I would look into before contemplating this swap would be your locl emission laws. If for example, you swap in an older motor, you will need to possible keep the emission controls of the newer truck, including cats and all the good stuff. If you decide to swap in the FE, take the mounts and stands off a 76/77 that was equiped with the FE and start moving over parts. This will surely require some fab work, but anything is possible with a torch and welder

I think that the mount towers will need to be swapped and/or adjusted or custom made. The FE is a wide engine and I know 2 different guys who have put a 390 and 410 in this bodysyle. One of these guys said that he had to build a plate between the engine and motormount or motormount and tower to get it bolted down. Then of course you need a bellhousing and/or an automatic trans that bolts up to the FE.
