My 03 was doing that at 500 miles and it turned out to be the EGR valve and Injection control pressure sensor. It eventually died at 587 miles, I had to call the Ford Road assistance but they had a tow truck to my place within 1/2 hr. and gave me a rental vehicle to drive, but in the end the reflash left something to be desired.

Thanks guys.....glad to hear your responses. Happy to read that my truck is not the only one going through these problems. I'm having the same problem more and more frequently now...so I'm trying to catch it doing "its thing" so I can let the mechanics see what I'm talking about. I noticed that its starting to do "its thing" when it goes up a grade, or right out of the drive way, upon acceleration. When it happens when the cruise control is on, it shuts the cruise control "off". Thanks for the advise....keeping a diary now.
Oh....one more question for the guys who've had work done in regards to the "stumble and no pedal". I was just wondering if your truck gave codes on what needed to be repaired because my computer isn't sending any codes back on my problem? Any suggestions on what to tell the Techs?
My 97 7.3 used to do this. I didn't want to spend $200 for a new pedal assembly so I just kept cleaning the electric plugs on the pedal position sensors with electrical contact cleaner. It would last from a month to several. Of course it was 5-6 years old when it started. No problems so far with the 04 6 liter.
.....stumbling then lack of power and no gas pedal response....
Just got mine back yesterday..dealer said he couldn't find a problem
the old "if it happens again, bring it back" I just hope it doesn't happen with my wife and kids in the truck and I get plowed from the rear. I'm documenting all trouble, I guess that's all I can do for now.

It is the only thing you can do now, but make sure it has names, dates, and times of who you talk to and they say.

If its an intermediate problem it might be hard to fix. Since the tech has to simulate the same condition and problem before he can fix it or even start to diagnose it.
I support you conclusion completely, however it would be nice, since it has happened before....Ford could get it together. Some dealerships are real sharp others could not figure out a paper sack.

Remember, when you take the truck in, that the "service writer" place that statement into the work order -- it cannot be overstressed to have that statement documented within the work order.

Thanks i was unaware that was at the bottom of the page. my bad. Thanks again
I know I wish sometimes it was up higher, it is easily missed, but keep checking it.
Actually, just spend a couple of hours surfing FTE and you will find some very cool stuff.
We all seem to just keep going back to the same old places.
