Antenna base removal

I need to remove the filler panel behind the hood, maybe it's called the valance (where the washer fluid nozels are). Does anyone know how to get the base of the antenna off the cable feeding the radio so I can remove it..

I've tried everything except cutting the dang cable and that's the last resort. There's gotta be a trick?
Thanks...Frustrated in Boise

Not sure... never had to do that. May want to post this the Audio forum. I am sure someone there knows the answer.
