Question stupid blonde needs help 1984 where's oil cap?

Ok, I realize that the people that post on here are generally knowledgable about their vehicals, however I'm desperate. I now own a 1984 ford f150 which used to belong to my brother, its a tank, anyways, I'm also very stupid about vehicals and the owners manual has long since been lost and you can't find one on the internet. So my question is, where the heck do you put the oil in. I found the cap for power-stearing, and I found the dipstick, both for the oil and transmission fluid, but I'm confused as to where you put the oil in in the sucker! Please help

Coming from the air filter (the round thing on top of the ingine, There is probably a rubber hose that leads to a crank case breather (round mettle thing about the size of your fist.) It is attached to the valve cover (a long box shaped thing bolted to the top of your engine.) That breather will unscrew and you poor the oil in there. If there is no hose, hust look for the valve cover and there will be somthing on there that will unscrew to get into the valve cover so you can poor in the oil.

laurnil...if you have a 300 straight six (six cylinders in a straight line, front to back) the oil fill cap is right at the front of the valve cover...it unscrews just like 82Step explained...the 300-6 only takes about 6 quarts to fill from bottom to top, and if you're way low on oil, once you get oil on the dip stick, it generally takes 2 more quarts to top it off...you don't want to overfill your oil, tho...

another idea...take the truck in to an auto parts store, and have one of the parts counter people show you where various fluid fill holes are...

here is a pic of my '85 oil filter cap. '84 is the same, but the breather tube goes into the top of the oil cap. Note: if your cap looks like mine, it will probably be _very_ tight, because it seems to tighten up. Don't know why.. The 84 just takes a half turn to take it off.

Mine does the same thing...sometimes it takes a "tap" from a hammer and flathead S/D to get it off.

Nah, Bremen's truck has TFI-IV, with a feedback carb... Your's probably has Duraspark II with a non fedback carb...

I don't know what it is with TFI-IV trucks, but, every one I see has the wires and vacuum lines falling out of the looms...

Mine is TFI. that means about 100 more wires and vacuum hoses. Yours is a F-250.. They have regular DS2 ignitions on the 300s.

wildjon: Yeah, it is quite annoying. Since I put oil in mine every day, I just screw it on VERY loosely, and it is a alot easier to get it off.

82: On my '84, the wires were in good, and weren't falling out of the looom. Of course, my father and I had owned it since '85. I think people just screw with them because they don't know what they are doing. If I keep this truck, I'm pulling everything off and redoing all the vacuum lines and fixed all the wires. But that is after my f250s done.
