I am looking for the cylinder arrangement (numbering). The left bank is further forward than the right bank. The cylinder arrangement must be unique.
Where is #1 and #2 and so on?

Thanks Magila, although that's not what I was wanting to hear. All this popping back through the intake & exhaust must be related to the carb dumping fuel all over the place. Unless there is some cross fire. The cap looked good and the wires are not bad.
It is firing on open valves. Compression sounds good when cranking .... I'll do the carb 1st then relook at it. Thanks again.
Thanks magila, the advance hass a solid steel tube, but I can drop it just for grins. When I was looking at the points, they seemed to be within 5 or 10 degrees of the timing mark. But then I was just eyballing it. Of course dynamic timing is always better. I'll try moving the distributor to see what that gets me. I was really thinking I was cross wired. Now I'll do some deep diagnostics to come up with a good fix.
thats what worked for me mine was poping threw the carb everytime reved up or under load idles was great though i set mine at 10 dynamic with no vacuum advance

I have a 1967 Custom Coach Landcruiser motorhome that looks just like a Flxible bus. It has a 534 in the back that is mated to an Allison MT42 6 speed transmission. The fuel tank holds 150 gallons.

Pictures, we need pictures of your motor home. Some of the engine compartment too.
We have a 78 L-series with a 534 engine. It powers a Failing water well drilling rig. This thing is a mechanical marvel! It has more transmissions and gearboxes than you've ever seen. You learn to make a lot parts yourself though. Not alot of parts available for this old of a piece of equipment. Kinda like a Timex, just keeps on ticking!
I just posted to the classifieds two 534TTi engines (yes, that's twin turbo and intercooled) that were marinized by SeaMaster back in the '60 and '70s. They just came out of a yacht that's been sitting on land for 18 years. I don't know if the engines are rebuildable or not, but the spare parts you could pull off of these two ought to be useful. The turbo manifolding, plenums, and intercooler housings would cost a bloody fortune to have cast these days.
Hello. New to here. I have a 67 Ford C950 Van Pelt Fire Truck with a 534 and it runs good and the truck looks great. Got it because the Fire Dept had a hard time getting it to run good and got tired of shifting a manual. Drove it home 450 miles and went through 9 quarts of oil and finally went through the carb and found out who ever went through it the last time put the jets in backwards! Secondarys in the primary holes. Needless to say it does not burn that much oil any more and runs pretty good for an old beast. Best milage 5.5 and worst going up hill, 2. Will try to post photos of it.
I have a 63 c1000 Towers firetruck with a 55' snorkel lift and a 534 motor. Had trouble with the carb, had it rebuilt once and still have trouble with it. I am looking at doing a throttle body injection conversion. Anybody out there ever do this with a 534?Also looking for a manual for the 534 if anyone knows where i can get one - looked all over and no joy.
