K&N Air filter - 4.6L

I put in a K&N air filter a week ago - just got done filling up. I had been getting consistently 13.5 to 13.9 mpg from new to 6500 miles. Last tank was 15. First time I ever got over 14, and I drive 100 miles per day on the highway. We'll see if the increase continues. STX 4WD superCab, 4.6L, 3.55 gears, 18" LT's

Awesome! I have 1300 miles on mine and get 13.5 MPG. I'm holding out for an intake kit to go along with the filter. I can't wait till the aftermarket starts producing for the 4.6L.

I put a K&N filter on my 4.6 a couple months ago, and have noticed similar results, along with an increase in performance.

??????

Where did you get the K & N filter kit? My dealer told me that they were not out yet. I also have the 4.6L.

I got mine at O'Riley's. All the box contained was the air filter, its not the entire intake kit, just the filter. I don't know the part number, I just asked for a K&N Filterecharger for a 2004 F-150 4.6.

I think I am going to look into one of these. 1 mile per gallon times 26 gallons times a lot of fillups equals money savings!

Keep me posted on when there is a kit availible!

MiamiE~

Is there one availible yet for the 04 4.6? If so where?

edit: I found one. Go here to get one:

http://www.motorhaven.com/customer/home.php?cat=161

17 horse power puts that engine at 248hp which is just 12 shy of the original 5.4. I bet that would make a throttle response difference!

The dyno claim was from their Expy ad, but how different can the motors be? Let me know what you find out.

In locating a K&N filter for the 4.6, according to everything I read it takes the same filter as prior 4.6 engines.. Looks the same to me ?? Sounds like the dealer that said they are not out yet, dosen't known what he is talkng about?? What else is new>>>

here is the model

edit: i have this one on my truck so i can confirm that your dealer is mistaken
