good ol engine light!!!

i was wondering if any one can tell me the proper procedure in clearing the engine light? do you fix the problem and then unplug battery or does fixing the problem automatically clear engine light?? or am i way off all together?? any info would help. THANKS

If you know what the problem is, and then you fix the problem, the engine light should automatically go off. If you just want to get the light to go off, restart the battery.

cool thanks for the info. i had a bit of a hiccup just after changing gears at low idle but when when rpms higher it is fine and the engine light went off. so i changed the plugs studder is gone but the engine light came back on 2days after i put new plugs in. so they arent related and i guess i will have to get them to flag the code for me. funny thing is truck runs great with engine light on and new plugs than it ever has!!!

auto zone

Mine had the engine light ghost for awhile. went to Auto Zone, they checked the light for free. told me it was EGR valve. warrenty replaced it. but they still had to clear the code after replacing it.
