Motor and tranny mounts

Respectively:
Usually the only mount that breaks is the passenger side motor mount.
A Haynes or Chilton should have the step-by-step or most public libraries have an excellent reference book to make notes from. The job is fairly intuitive.
Mounts are about $20-$30 each.
A couple of hours for a motor mount change.
I've never seen a bad driver sider motor mount and only one bad transmission mount--but anything is possible.

Talyn,
I just replaced all three mounts on my 1995 F150 extcab 4x4.
Replaced mounts with ford original $47 for tranny $60 per engine mount.
All were trashed I had no choice. took about 5 hours with limited hand tools but saved me $200+ in labor on top of the price of mounts.
I did need two floor jacks with wheels to do it all at once, and it went real smooth.
Overall, pretty easy.

Had to replace the motor mounts on my 95 f150 last summer. Cost around $50 for the set at Checker (Schucks, Kragen). Passenger side is easy. If my memory serves me correctly just remove the bracket holding the mount. I on the other hand went the hard way. Got an engine hoist removed both motor mount nuts pulled up the motor replaced the mounts tried to lower the motor back into place nothing matched up. Loosened the tranny mount, up and down with the hoist. About 5 hours later got real pist off took the crowbar between the frame and exhaust manifolds and went to town. Lucky I didn't crack the manifolds.
Should have taken just a couple of hours but it was one of those jobs where everything went wrong. All day project.
Word of advice, one side at a time.
On the bright side the tranny mount is a piece of cake.
Have fun
Mike

just gotta jack up the engine and trany dont you? pull them and put in the new ones?
my other question, cause i'm not sure about it. does the engine set on the mounts? or does it tie down to the mounts?
The vibrations are normal for manuals, cause there is movement in there.
And there should be a lil jiggle from the torque of the engine, but if you hit a bump, or take off and the stick moves quite a bit. you got some problems.
