1996 f250 diesel

Help!! I have a 96 f250 powerstroke diesel and it won't start. It ran fine this morning, came home turned it off and now it won't do anything. The battery light stays on but it won't turn over. Tried to jump it off, nothing doing. I have no clue what is wrong. Any ideas? THANKS!!

Sure sounds like an electrical problem to me. I would start at the starter and work backwards.

I agree on the starter - if you get it cranking but it won't start, check the glow plug controller.

Well, make sure you have power down there on the starter. Just get your testor out and see. If you don't have power most likly the start selonoid.

Is it stick? It could be the clutch safety switch, which is actually located over the throttle. Pull it towards you and it may start.

Starter quit last week on mine. Took nuts off posts on the starter, cleaned and sanded connectors, replaced nuts, she lit better than before. If that doesn't do it, starter solenoid has gone bad. $11 bucks at NAPA. If that doesn't do it, I would have to say the starter has gone away. Easy to replace, but tough on the wallet. Their not cheap. I bet it's just the connections down there. Keep us posted.
