How do you eliminate those "fine" scratch marks on the paint!?

The owner of my truck before me must have taken my truck to automatic car washs...because the paint when you look at it in the sunlight looks like it has a million "fine" scratch marks...is there a way to get rid of those through a wax or buff job? How much would it cost to take it to a detail shop and have it professionally buffed and waxed???

I have had great success with Meguiars 3 step. There's a cleaner, a polish (that's what fills those scratches) and finally a wax. Put each on by hand but you can use an orbital buffer to take it off. I have used this on black, dark blue colors and itr really cleans up those swirls. If it's deep, Meguairs makes a clay bar for deeper scratched but you will be working ALL day if the whole truck is swirled. Hope this helps.

The scratches you're referring to is called swirl marks. I use a PC with 3M's SMR (Swirl Mark Remover). That stuff will take out all the swirls. Then top it off with a good quality wax. I use Klasse. Look at the result:

Another 3M product to try is Perfect-It II. It's intended for profeesional use application by hand, and contains no wax. It worked real well for me when color sanding a car wing I painted. It took out 1500-200 grit sanding marks & left a reflection so sharp that I could count my eyelashes in it (black paint).

If you go to an auto body/paint store that carries detailing products, they might carry a product that is pink in color, but it has microscopic beads of silicone that you can put on with an orbital buffer and it is heat activated, so you use the orbital buffer very slowly, and it will do a sweet job at removing the swirls. You won't burn the paint with that. Then finish with a nice coat of carnuba wax. 3 M or Meguiars
