V10s delayed????

There was a post over on ford-diesel.com about a fire at the plant that builds V10s. Dealer says V10s delayed 6 months. Anybody else hear about this?

Yes, there was a fire. Last week I know they were running at about 3% production. 6 months? I don't know.

The fire was at the V8 plant. It shouldn't effect the V10's. I suspect it's the demand for the engine that is causing the delays.

V10s delayed????

I seriously doubt there was a fire. I work in the telecommunications industry and we rely on one or two companies to manufacturer the necessary chemicals to protect the cable we install as well as the fire supression qualities. A few years back we were in the throws of this internet revolution, like we still are, so low and behold it was harder and harder to get cable. Suddenly all kinds of stories started proping up like "a fire at DuPont" and "they are closed for the summer for retooling". I had a chance to speak with the product manager from DuPont about this and quite simply the demand was twice the manufacturing capability of a very difficult and long time to process chemical.
The story that I have heard on the V10 is simply there is only one plant making the engine, the engine has proved to be a very very durable and dependable engine, and is in very high demand. It is not only being sought after by the retail truck market but also for RV Van frames sold to other companies like Winnebago and so on. As far as I can tell there is probably a bit more loyalty to some of those RV makers than the few the consumers buy.
Don't get me wrong I am glad I got mine when I did. I didn't have to order it I got someone's who's financing fell through. Best of luck, I'm lovin my Y2K V10 SD CC F350 4:30LS Short Box XLT

Obviously you do not owm a piston slapping v10 like so many others do.n The v10 could be great. If only they would take care of the people who dropped 35-40k on a truck with a bad engine. So I believe what you hear is not accurate. Scroll through this site and you will see.

I think when you get right down to it MOST of us V10 owners are satisfied. It is possible to get a lemon anywhere, just keep plugging away and hope for some remedy. I've had no problems with my 99 350 V10 except the five month wait to get it.
