V10 Gas Mileage
I've been getting between 8-9 mpg but consider this:
I only have 1000 miles on it.
Mostly city driving.
It's winter so it spends a lot of time warming up in the morning.
When my wife and I go shopping I usually drop her at the door and wait outside with the truck running.
I too, didn't get the truck because of the great gas mileage.

DANG folks, this truck is a SUPER DUTY! When you looked at the truck on lot and the MPG information was missing, didn't that kind of strike a bit of interest in your mind? The darn thing is condidered a utility vehicle! Gas mileage is not an issue over 8000 GVW! Let's stop beating the mileage issue to death. If you wanted fuel economy you should have gotten a F-150 with a 6 cylinder in it! Sorry for the snotty reply, but the new comers should check the archives or do a search for "FUEL MILEAGE"! I have a `00 F-250 SD supercab long box 4x4 gas guzzling hog and love it....period! 10 city/14 hwy/ 8 towing!

My mileage isn't a very good judge of the V10's potential, unless you want to see what the worst mileage could be. I drive almost all short trips of 5 miles or less on hilly terrain in stop and go traffic. On top of that, the fuel here is oxygenated for half the year to reduce emissions, which reduces mileage even further. With that said, I get 8.5 mpg around town. Mileage gets up to 9 mpg with summer fuel. For comparison, my old F150 regular cab, short box, 5 spd manual with efi 5.0 V8 in it and 3.55 gears used to only get me 9.5 mpg under the same conditions.
Best mileage ever was all highway, with non-winter fuel, at 60 mph with no load where I got 13.5 mpg. With my extremely large slide-in camper loaded on my dually truck, I get 10 mpg at 65 mph on the highway. This slide-in weighs about 4000 lbs and sits almost 12 feet tall when loaded. The wind drag is a big mileage killer, so even though it's lighter than many trailers/fivers, it is very tall.

V10 Gas Mileage
2001,f250,v10,cc,shortbed,3.73 gear. As of about 2000 miles on the odometer,i am getting about 8-9 miles city and the first trip to northern Michigan about 200 mile trip,i had almost 16 highway. I was honestly suprised by that highway number. I owned a '93 bronco with a 351 engine, and it was about the same.

My truck is a '99 V-10, 3.73, EC, 4X4, auto. manf'd 5-98. I'm right there with snowchaser, 'cept I live in the flatlands of Florida. I get 10-11 city, 13-14 hwy, and 9-11 towing. Mileage didn't reach that till I got about 25,000 miles on it. Switched from 10pr tires to a better rated 8pr. I watch my pressures. Also switched to synthetic rearend oil. Std gears came with petrol based. Started using 15-40 oil and lost a little mileage. My local tech said to use 10-30 till about 40,000 miles then could use a little heavier. Also I use whatever gas is the cheapest. I guess I got lucky with this truck. No pinging, no steering problems, no rotor problems, no rattling. From what I am reading, I'd better hang onto this one.
