Has anyone tried using the brighter aftermarket headlamp bulbs? Is there a visible difference? Damage to the headlamp housings from too much heat?

I wouldn't recommend it, I've heard of people putting in higher wattage bulbs and then melting the sockets. I'm not sure if they really made a difference anyhow.

I've heard of melted lamp sockets also with brighter bulbs. What does work is to put in a Brightbox. This allows you to run the low and high lamps at the same time. You can see how much brighter this is by pulling back on the stalk for passing lights. The only problem with the Brightbox is that it costs about $100. You can build your own though.
