Average 14 to 15 MPG. There have been reports of 17 MPG with a 4x4 SD but that's rare.

14-15 MPG !!!! I must be doing something wrong, because the best I have got so far is 13.8. That was the very first tankfull with me babying the truck because it was brand new. Overall I always get 11-13 Mpg. That is mixed city and highway driving. If I ever got 17 MPG I would be estatic!!!!

Gas Mileage

When we got our 04 F250 4x4 5.4 3.73 we got round that too but you have to keep one thing in mine. Is that the truck is not broke in yet and you wont see a change until 500 to 1000 miles. Thats the way it has been with all of the new trucks that I know of. Now our 04 is getting 15.5 mpg. Good luck keep me posted.

Yea – 17 is a little much, but 14 is not. It depends on the truck. I hear many times where a person went to an SD with a 5.4 from an F150 with one and complain about only getting 14 to 15 MPG where the F150 got much better.

You might get 13 town and 15 highway with the 3.73’s – who knows. It’s a crapshoot.

I don’t worry about it – I have the 6.8.

MPG

I bet you can get 17mpg if the weather is warm trcuks do not get good milage when the weather is cold. And keep the RPMs down. We got 16.5 the week before it got cold for the winter. In the summer I get 20 mpg with the 2000 power stroke in the winter I only get 14. If you let the truck idle long that will chop the milage too. Some food for thought. Good luck.

Wow you guys get great mpg. My '03 Crew Cab fx4 gets 9mpg. The dealer tells me there is nothing wrong with it but I think they have made a mistake.

Cool MPG

Oh I forgot to tell you that my That our 2004 has a 6speed but if we had a auto I do not beleve that we would come close to that milage. Our 99 F250 2wd auto 5.4 only gets 14 on a good day
