I am looking for a F250 2001 but When i go onto a lot i never find what i want. A V8 or V10 5spd Manual ext cab and a long bed. When i ask the dealer staff if they can look for one they give me the dumbest gosh darnn face. I know you can order one but If I buy it off the lot you can get a better deal. I just want to know why do ford dealers hardly ever carry 5spds. ?????? I just wanted to know.

You get a much better deal by ordering. You wont be paying for the dealer's interest that he's been paying while it has sat on his lot. If ordering you should be able to get down to dealer's cost or close to it and get exactly what you want.

You can't find a 5speed cause they are trying to sell trucks to women. Thats why the only thing on the lots are loaded to the max.

Well.......5 speeds are somewhat rare, on the lot, yes.

But if you really want to know of a rare bird, look for a 5 speed with a regular cab, and no air conditioning. They don't exist.

If you want a 5 sp. with regular cab, no air, the only way to get it is to order it.

People want a car that looks like a truck.....that's the reason.
Plain and simple.

I just bought a 2001 F250 SD 4x4 regular cab with 5 speed. I had to order it, which was no problem. I got the 5.4 liter V8 and 4.10 diff.
My total cost, out the door, was $22,333........

The dealer I bought from in Sturgis, SD didn't have the SD I wanted either, so I ordered one. This is what I ordered:
F-250 Super Duty, SC,LB, V-10,4x4, ORP, 3:73, Deep Wedgewood blue and Harvest Gold Metallic, roof clearance lights
AND THE ACCESSORIES THAT I BOUGHT WITH IT:
Fog lights, front grill guard, wood grained dash, fender flares, power sliding rear window, bed liner, under coat, heavy duty floor mats(the kind that holds a quart of water, and the ones in back hold a gallon.) With all of that, it cost me a total of $34,477 tax included. I was EXTREMELY happy!

I picked mine up March 1 2001, and ordered it on November 11 2000, pretty long wait but worth it.
An F250 xlt supercab 4x4, manual hubs, manual transfer case, auto trans, v10, 8' bead, 3.73 gears, cab light sliding window, basically LOADED
w/o tax 29,200.00 exact
less 12,500 trade-in(97 f250)
leaves 16,700.00 taxable @ 7.25 nys tax = 1210.75(paid cash)
i owed 5750.25 on trade-in
16,700.00 + 5750.75 = 22,450.75 financed.
Or $23,661.50 out the door,
without doubt I think i did very GOOD!!!
I almost forgot the most important part,
Its BLACK :-)
after all, is there any other color? :-)

LAST EDITED ON 25-Jun-01 AT 02:48 PM (EST)[p]I picked up on 4/2001 my new 2000 F-250 SuperCab, 4 x 4, V-10, 5-speed, XL, 8' bed, AC, bucket seats, CD/Cass stereo, towing package, marker lights, rear slider FOR $24,000 - $4000 trade (1993 bronco w/120K and bad trans) + 6% ta$1200) - $4700 cash = $16,500 financed, from the dealers lot it stickered for $31,000!!

If you find a truck/car on a dealers lot they are more willing to sell it to you than ordering it b/c of the floor planning interest and they will lose there hold back. Also if it is getting near to the model year end the dear doesn't want two model years on the floor.

But if no one has what you want you have to order!
