Coolant Leak

Just joined and don't know if I'm in the right area for this question.
I have a 95 F150, 5.0 L, there is coolant coming from a "weep hole" on the top front left corner of the engine. It doesn't seem to start leaking until the engine heats up, it starts out as a drip and as the engine gets warmed up it turns into a small intermidiate stream. According to the dash board gauge the engine is not over heating and the heater works fine. Perplexed and Befudlled!

This "weep hole" is attached to what looks like some kind of sensor just above the radiator thermostat. The sensor housing has the sensor at the bottom and a small metal tube coming from the top which is connected to the "weep hole" via a rubber hose. This sensor housing also has one of the heater hoses connected to it.

ttoo,

just went out and took a look at mine (94 5.0) and the sensor housing does not have any sort of a weep hole in it, sounds like your sensor/heater hose connector housing has rusted through. You'll probably need to get a new one from the dealer, I dont know if a parts store will carry that piece. I wouldent bother with a junk yard one, it might be part way rusted through too. If this is on the sensor itself, there shouldent be a weep hole in it either. The waterpump is the only place you will find that. The purpose being that it will drip before the bearings are completly wore out and the pump freezes up.

On my sensor housing there are 2 rubber hoses one is a heater hose and a smaller one goes over to the "weep holes". The "weep holes" are not on the sensor housing. The "weep holes" are hard to see because they are located behind what I think is the EGR valve. I had already removed the sensor housing and it is in good shape. The coolant is comming from the "weep holes" the engine doesn't even have to be on all it takes is the pressure from my garden hose in the radiator and water comes out of the holes.

The cooling system is designed to be a closed system, meaning that there are no holes in the system.

Anything that has a hole in it needs to be replaced, repaired, or brazed.

These holes are not from wear or decay they are machined holes.

Okay. Please take a high resolution digital picture using a bright flashlight or work light, and put the picture in your gallery.

I have to see this.

Yes, a photo would be helpful at this time.

I think the hose you are referring to goes over to the throttle body? There should be a hose at the top and the bottom of this if it is the throttle body?

That's it the holes are in the throttle body. How do I create a gallery? I was going to email a picture earlier but I haven't been a memeber long enough.

went out and looked again. The only thing I see on mine is a small plug (looks like a freeze plug) about in the middle of the throttle body located on the rib that the water travels through. The only other thing I could think of would be a hole for the pivot pin for the throttle plates? Either way, there should be no water coming out. If it is in the "plug" that I see, maybe that plug is removeable/replacable. Hopefully this is the case.

That would be great if it is just a corroded plug I can replace.

At the top of this very web page towards the right are a row of buttons. The first button is "settings". Click that.

Up will come "Control Panel for ttoo"

Right underneath "COntrol Panel for ttoo", towards the right, is a box that says "Edit Gallery"

Click that, and follow the directions on the page.
