Don't know how many 6.0's they have sold. The only sell trucks so I would guess quite a few. Friends a heavy equipment mechanic. Works on dozers, backholes etc. With his business he knows quite a few car mechanics, engine machine shop's, diesel injection shop's etc. I am not saying all of the 6.0's are bad. But like the GM 6.5 which I still think is decent motor got a bad rep for the problem's they had. Hate to see the same happen to the 6.0.
I did not think you were, my curiosity is the ratio.
I agree there are more running correctly than not.
By the way......WELCOME

I agree with the by the road thing, never seen one myself. But is a major disappointment to drop all that money and get one of these trucks that has so many issues, they have most of mine figured out and repaired except the moan/ drone and the fuel mpgs. but at 8.2 mpg pulling the trailer it sure hurts the old bilfold and ford doesnt have a clue how to fix. sorry about the crazy comment.
Right now I'm averaging 18mpg City and about 19-20mpg highway. 2004 F-250 Superduty Crewcab 6.0L Diesel 4x4 Lariat. Not sure about towing as I haven't pulled anything yet, but we'll see sometime, lol.
Originally posted by SBV45 Shraphnel64, are you going by manual calculation or going by the mpg computer in the overhead?
Do you have any mods?
Well, in regards to your question...I did this by manual calculation. I keep forgetting to reset the overhead console when refueling so it's not very accurate...however, it's on 16.9mpg from 2 refills of tanks. No mods are on the truck, everything is stock.
2004 Ford F250 King Ranch
This truck has been repaired once for four wheel drive, this is a list of the problems today, mileage 4,500.
The four wheel drive still does not work, vehicle is stopped, 4 high is engaged, take off, go 25 yards, accelerate hard, rear wheels spin and no 4 wheel drive, then all of a sudden, the front starts slamming in and out of engagement, making gear noise, etc
Another time , stop truck, engage 4 wheel low, will not engage, finally engages, then stop, put in high 2 wheel, reverse, only a noise occurs that could only be the gears riding on top of themselves, no engagement, just a pound of grinded gears.
The truck has much more wind noise from the doors, then when it we first driven of the showroom?
When first started, it lurches in reverse, or forward, when idling, like a worn out piece of junk.
It does not have the torque or the power the other 7.3 liter ford diesel trucks I have owned did, both Fords, one a 99, and one 2001, did I mention the mileage is not nearly as good as the 7.3, hmm, less displacement, less power, worse gas mileage, all I can say is this is not a better idea.

Go to this thread, read completely….Follow, on page 3..MLF250’s format, it is good…and easy! and post. Important update to instructions on page 6. Most important part of this data...also, there “is” owners out there that have had no problems. To be fare to my methodology… I need the same from the “no problem” owners.. i.e. mileage (mileage is the odometer reading)
important a “no problem” statement if you have had none.
ODOMETER reading at time of problem is critical.
In addition, please read more instructions, bottom of first page, posted by Tim L
The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words, NO stories.
I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

thanks for nothing, tim, how much does ford pay you for your better ideas?
Jollyroger, It takes you more than a month to respond to Tim's request for info and then you flame the guy? This forum is about sharing of information. Tim is a moderator and put's in a lot of time on this. I for one think you are out of line.

I'll second that SBV45. Jolly, disagree if you want to. But say why instead of lashing out at an individual. Discussion is the heart of the forum. Moderators are uncompensated and worth far more than they are told. I've never met Tim, yet I feel as if he's my next door neighbor.
