Hey gang,
I just got word from my boss that NY as of june 1st will be changing the way we will be getting are trucks inspected. If your "check engine" light is on it may fail inspection. Anyone performing auto inspections will have to buy a computer based machine that reads your pcm for emissions codes. If the light is on and shows an emission code your truck/car will fail inspection. This failure will only apply to emission codes only. We were told that a temp sticker will be granted if the truck/car goes over a set amount to fix the emission problems... haven't been told yet the amount. Thats all we were told as of now.


Just a heads up....will find out more and let you know whats up.


PS...I'm not sure what counties this includes but it looks like the up state area mostly cause I know albany and NYC have a different deal going on there.

 

It's all of New York State, and applies to 2002 model-year vehicles and older equipped with a "check engine" light. 2003 and newer are exempt from the emissions inspection.

 

Ya I wasn't sure on the details but we'll be getting a video from the state soon....more crap to make the customer mad. My job just got easier....not!
