Radial TSL Swampers or Radial Ground Hawgs

OK. So I have narrowed the tire to either the Super Swamper TSL Radial (not SSR) or the Ground Hawg Radial. Both tires are 38/15.5-16.5 I don't know which to go with??? I've heard good and bad with swampers, but haven't heard anything about radial Ground Hawgs. Can you guys help? Thanks

Go with the Swampers. I have had several sets of swampers and loved em all. A friend of mine had a set of hawgs, and they sucked big #####!!! Drove like #####. They were 38/15.50/15

I've never run the radial GoundHawgs, but I can tell you from experience that the non-radials are like most big mud tires, hard to balance, flat spots when they're cold, and extremely noisy! And in the mud they pull like nothing short of a tractor tire! They are directional, which means they'll get you into trouble that you might not be able to back out of! I bought my first set in 1980 and I still run them today, as do quite a few of the professional mud-racers! IMHO, it depends on what you want out of the tire. I don't do really any mudding. I want the tires for mostly pavement driving and an ocasional cabin trip or dune trip. I have a set of 39/18-16.5 Mickeys right now and want a tire that doesn't pull as much all over the road and a tire that isn't as bouncy as the Mickeys.

I'm not sure that I'd recommend either tire for your desired usage, both will dig aggressively in loose sand. The non radials are pretty bad about "tracking" the grooves in pavement and also wear pretty fast. You might take a look at the new 37" BFG's that are coming out, and I think Goodyear also has one at 37". I had a set of 35" BFG-Mud Terrains and were probably the best mannered tires I've had on one of my vehicles. Probably gonna put a set on the wife's F350 SuperDuty whenever I need new tires for it. Hope this helps, Good luck! My truck is lifted 12 in. so I kind of need to stay with at least a 38/15.5-16.5 in tire. I think 37 would be to small and to narrow (12.5in).

The only comment I can make is about a set of Hawgs that a friend ran on his Blazer. After they got some wear on them, they rode and looked like sh#t. Really, they shook and bounced like crazy. They left a bad taste in my mouth ever since (not that I tried eating them...)
