F-250 SD Shift-on-the-fly 4x4
Has anyone had problems with their 4WD? I have a 2000 F-250 SD 4x4 Lariat, Ext. cab and it's stuck in 4WD high. I haven't been able to get it out no matter what I do: I jacked all 4 wheels off the ground to release "torque bind" ; I put it in reverse: I disconnected the battery; etc., etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way - I live in Kingston, Jamaica that's why I haven't taken it to the "dealer".

Have you verified that the front 4x4 drive shaft is actually turning when the vehicle was on jack stands and in drive? Because the Ford #####-On-The-Fly indicator lamp on the dash panel does not indicate actual 4x4 hub engagement, it only indicates the transfer case solenoid has actuated to the 4x4 position. The vacuum hubs still need to engage to drive the front wheels. The 4x4 indicator lamp does not since if the vacuum hubs are working.
So, even though the 4x4 indicator on the dash panel may be on that does not mean you are driving the front wheels unless you have manually locked the hubs. If your front hubs are engaged and the front 4x4 drive shaft is turning then the problem could be at the transfer case solenoid actuator. In the old days this was controlled by manual linkage and you could just disconnect the linkage and try to force the transfer case back into 2W Low but not today.
Time to visit the Dealership.

I had nothing but trouble with my ESOF and transfer case. One of the first things to be replaced by my dealer was the GEM module. Apparently it was the cause of trouble for a lot of ESOF rigs. The whole transfer case ended up getting replaced though so I'm not sure if this helps.
