Bad design on the front end

Ok, I have a 2001 250SD 4x4 and I have a problem with the design of the front end and I was wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing. Every time I go to camp I have to do some uphill mud climbing. Deep ruts slick mud the whole 9 yards. The mud has a tendency to cake all across the whole front end in areas that are near on impossible to hose out. I guess im just griping but none of my other trucks were such a pain in the ##### to get clean. Just looking for feedback and views. anyone else notice this?

Yea true, but like everything else dont wait days later after camping or what ever mud actions you do,to wash the mud off. the first thing u do when u get back is to rinse it off.We get our 25 ton cranes deep in mud and after the day is over with we rinse them off and bamm they are shinny again. but when we wait days the mud just seems to be hard to get off and when the mud comes off, there is a film left on them. So if you rinse off right away , it will come off. Good luck

Perhaps you (or someone) could fashion a removeable skid plate to keep a majority of the goo out. Then, remove the plate for more thorough cleaning.

What area, specifically, is getting gummed up?
