Truck has no power and whistles

Hi my boss has a 95 power stroke diesel truck. Its a F450 with a five speed trans dual rear wheels 4x4 and a dump body. Recently the truck has been making a whistling/ air rushing out of a hose type sound form the passenger side of the engine. It wont have any power below 2 grand then after ya get above 2 grand its like ya hit a nos booton in a car she puts ya rite back in the seat and goes. It looks like sounds like its comeing from around the turbo. Or the valve in the turbo thats for cold starts. If any one could tell me what compnets to check or how the turbo is suposed to work that would be great.

Check the hose going from the engine air intake on the right side to the MAP sensor up on the heater housing. Make sure it is plugged in and not leaking. I just had one in yesterday doing almost the same exact thing and the map sensor hose had blown loose.

Jmorton, What does the MAP sensor do? I was out there playing with that hose the other day (unplugging it and plugging it back in) and I couldn't tell it made any difference. You are talking about the small hose that comes off of the intake air plenum and connects to a switch mounted on the firewall right?

Ill check the hose out tomrow hopefully thats it. the engine only has 160,000 miles it better not need rebuiolding yet. we were thinking that the valve in the turbo was stricking open/closed and that once ya got the engine reved up it would force that valveopen/closed since when ya look at it ya can see that valve close and open with the loose and gain in power. Thanks for your guys input and if anybody else nos anything about it please dont hesiate to put yar ideas dwon.

sounds to me like it's just the exhaust back pressure valve performing its duty to stay closed when the engine is cold then open up when the engine gets warmer. an easy fix is to unplug the ebpv sensor... there is a 2-wire weathertight plug located right under the turbo on the driver's side, just unplug it and see if you hear the whistling sound anymore... if not, leave it unplugged and forget anout it. the only downside to this is that it takes a little more time for the motor to warm up and get heat into the cab from the heater... no biggie. hope this helps
