351w to 360?

I have a 1989 F250 with a 351w in it. It has a rod going out in it. I just bout the truck for $950.00 and found the bad news yesterday.

The guy I bought the truck from has a 1987 1-ton with a 360 in it. He said I can have it for free. It runs good, just the truck is wrecked. Will this motor bolt up in my truck?

I have a C6 trany, thats an automatic. The 360 has a 4 speed hooked to it. I want to keep the automatic for cosmetic reasons. The truck it's self is very good shape.

I have been told it will. I just want to make sure before I spend the next 4 days under the hood.

The other question is about the disributer, and electrical. The 360 has a carb on it. My 351 is fuel injected. Am I into trouble here? If I plug in the 360 distributer into my wire harness, is it going to work? Is the timing going to be off? Can I use the diributer off the 351 for the 360? I haven't got the money to replace the short bloock, so I hope this is gona work.

Is there any parts that will enter change? Like the intake maifold, or the exhaust? What should I keep off the 351w that the 360 can use?

I could use all the help I can get here. I begine this saturday. Thanks for any imput you have. I am sorry I have asked so many questions. I once replaced a inline 6 out of my 1961 ford, with a 460. Now that was a project! To bad it twisted the frame! It was a unibody 1961.

Thanks again for the help, Jason.

Some bad news for you man...

Nothing on the 351w will work with the 360. The 360 was discontinued in 1976, so the 87 truck has had it swapped in as well. Two separate engine families and parts. Your best bet will be to get your hands on another small block engine (351w), that will drop right in.

Sorry --Mike

Thanks for the input man. I gave the truck back, and bought a 1991 F-250 with the 302 in it. It runs great. Just needs to be fixed as in the looks and interior. I am glad you said some thing or I would have tried to pull it saturday. Thanks again, Jason.
