Should I replace my bearings?

I am doing a budget rebuild on a 351C. I am putting in a cam, intake, carb, headers and rebuilding the heads. My dad says that i should replace all the bearing main, rod and cam and take the block to a machine shop to get it checked. I say that as long as the bearings look good why bother. I don't want to take the whole bottom end apart if I don't have to.

I just wanted to know what you guys who have done a rebuild like this have done. Should I replace the bearings or not I especially want to know about the cam bearings because it doesn't sound like people replace those to often.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

An upgrade is completed on a well known running motor, a rebuild should be a complete rebuild. You are starting with the heads for some reason, do the whole motor
