1993 Bronco II? Can it be?

Alright, I am so confused. About 2 years ago I bought this big book called Detroit Cars, 50 Years of motor city. It is pretty cool because it has huge color photos of vehicles and information on them from the Model T and up. I was reading it the other day and came across the Bronco. Pictured is a full size Bronco and the caption next to it says exactley this, "1993 Ford Bronco II. With its 5.3-litre V8, the Ford Bronco II was short on neither power nor size. Its presence-whether on or off the road-was immense." I know what a Bronco II looks like and this is no Bronco II, it is a full size. I would scan it and put it up but I can't figure out how to put pictures in a thread. Now was there ever a full size Bronco that was called a Bronco II, and did ford ever put a 5.3 litre in it? I don't think they ever did but I can be wrong. Just had to ask all this cause it actually got my brain moving.

Ya, that is true, although chevy does have a 5.0 which is a 305. I was reading in the book a little more and I found a full size 1992 Bronco. Now this also sounds a little strange to me. It states, "1992 Ford Bronco. Improved in 1992, the Bronco incorporated a higher specification inside and some minor body revisions. Four and five-speed manual, and a Cruise-O-Matic auto transmission were available mated either to a 147hp 4.9 liter six-cylinder or 188hp 4.9-liter V8 engine." Now did they not make a 5.7 that year in a automatic. Also, I thought it was a 5.0 liter V-8 unless it is really 4.9 liters but Ford called it a 5.0 because it sounds better. Now I am not very sure to how cool this book really is.

Yeah, is the 5.8 really 5.8 liters?, most places call the 5.8 a 5.7 like the Chevy, did we just take 5.8 to be different and better? Some people man!!

Yeah thats what I figured, typos suck, but is it a 5.8 or 5.7, either way I am still going to call it a 5.8 more is better, but I would like to know to get it off my mind!

I think it is 5.0, why would ford do that? I think its safe to say that book is bogus, only thing its good for now is to look at the pictures or use it as a fire starter. A little off subject here: How much horse does the 5.8 have? -wb

Stock? I actually think that it is either low 200's or actually could be under 200, but I doubt it, I don't know where I heard these, but someone had them posted

The correct way to convert Cubic Inches to Liters is to multiply by .01639 THUS:
351W X .01639 = 5.75 which ford rounds to 5.8
350 chev X .01639 = 5.736 which chevy rounds to 5.7
302 X .01639 = 4.949 which ford calls a 5.0 but all chevy guys will tell you it is a 4.9=TRUE!
305 X .01639 = 4.9989 which is a 5.0
As for the full size B2 with a 5.3-NO!
Hope this alleviates confusion.
