Oil guage problems

Hi been away my last post was about my fuel tank gauge going crazy. Here is my next problem I haven't driven my Truck since October 15th. I was injured in WTC first day and had my first operation 12/17/01 and wasn't allowed to drive. Now I finally get around to start my baby up and the oil gauge stays at Zero. I wait and wait no movement turn off check oil all OK. Start up and 10 min later moves to just over the line. That was 3 days ago no tapping or knocking sounds. Today it does it again zero then goes up to middle drops to zero again. Could this be a fluke or did my pump lose its prime? I'm starting to think pressure valve or bad oil pressure switch. I should do a pressure test but can’t do any work. Have a C-collar on neck from the operation. It’s a 1988 F250 with a 351M. 4WD extended cab 8ft bed. Like I said no tapping/Knocking but I don't want to take chance rebuilt the whole engine with a new pump rods & mains about 1yr ago. Should I worry?

Not sure about the problem you are seeing. Perhaps the 4 months of being parked allowed the pressure sending unit to "clog". Since you are unable to work on the truck (hope you get better), maybe you can get a friend to pull the sender and give it a good cleaning. Otherwise, I would pay to have it checked out rather than risk damaging the fresh engine.
