1926 model T

Hey all, my dad is getting a 26 model T pickup from his friend. It has never been restored and is all original.
We are going too do a resto on it too make it a weekend driver. What places sell parts for the engine and tranny, and rearend. We have a buddy that reupholsters seats.

Also, can you guys give some info on thes trucks, what should I look at when doing the resto on it.

Thanks.

I think you should look into learning how to use that tranny, doesn't it have a jacked up 3 pedal system, one of them being a 'reverse' pedal and the trottle being a lever? And I also heard that the tranny takes about 600 weight transmission fluid. Takes about a week to get the stuff out of the can and into the transmission.

Lets see, there was 52,317 of the model T trucks made, and 261,661 of the TT's made. The T's had a 1,060 lb shipping weight, TT's 1,477 lbs.

Oh, one good book on the model T is "Henrys's WONDERFUL Model T: 1908-1927" A local library should carry it, but it is pretty old (MCMLV, whatever year that is). It has a lot of good info, including how to use the spark and gas levers on the steering column.

Good luck!

Clayton

ya you are right about the three pedal system and throttle being a lever, it takes a couple of tries to get the pedals figured out and use them in conjuntion with the throttle. i thought it is really cool once you get the hang of it. dont expect to get going to fast cause the engine doesnt have that much power, make sure you get your speed up if you know a hill is coming up cause it might or might not bog out, then you might have to go up it in reverse cause it is lower geared and has more power, haha, people might look at you a bit funny, oh and one more thing, start to slow down way in advance cuase the brakes are metal on metal so they dont have quite the same amount of power. have fun driving it you will have a blast, i did.
