Question 351M and a 351W

My 79 f150 has the original 351m in it and i'm planning on swapping it for a rebuilt W. A friend of mine said there might be problems bolting up to the c6 tranny. Would there be a problem? please explain. What should i do?

82F100SWB is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
To put that 351W in there, you're going to need mounts and stands for a 302 truck, and a smallblock C6, the M uses the big block bolt pattern.

The stands are the same for 351M/351W/302. The motor mounts are the same for 302/351W different for 351M. The transmission bellhousing bolt pattern is the same for 302/351W different for 351M. Just get a C6 from an 80's truck/van with 302 or 351W.

Just take your tranny to a tranmission shop and have them change it to a small block C6 case. Get your motor mounts at AutoZone or PEP Boys there cheap there.

Chances are you shop will not "change" the case, they will sell you a different tranny that will be required to go to the small block bolt pattern.
